New Year of Scholarship Program to Open on November 16, 2020

The Bakala Foundation will start accepting applications for the next year of its Scholarship Program on November 16, 2020, a full two months earlier than in previous years. Our aim is to make it easier for our applicants to make a decision about studying at a foreign university, which they must often make in the spring. It will be possible to submit applications for the 12th year of the Scholarship Program from November 16, 2020 to January 18, 2021. In April, the applicants judged to be the best will be invited to personal interviews with the expert committee. These interviews will take place in May, and the results of the selection process will be announced by the end of that same month. The Scholarship Program is designed for talented and goal-oriented students from the Czech Republic who are already studying for, or wish to study for, a complete bachelor’s or master’s degree in their chosen field at one of the world’s best universities abroad and are not able to finance their own studies. Applications may be submitted both by those just planning to start their university studies and by those who have already started. The foundation will give their scholars financial aid for the entire period of their studies, and also provide counseling and other support. During the eleven years of the program’s existence, the foundation has supported 171 talented students at 50 universities around the world. This autumn, there will be three informational lectures about the Scholarship Program presented by Kristýna Burdová Borsodi, the Bakala Foundation’s Study Advisor. In addition, we are organizing several more lectures about studying abroad within the framework of our Student Hub program. For example, we will take a look at what studying is like in the Scandinavian countries, France, Switzerland, and Israel. We will also provide advice on how to write a good essay of the type which is required as a part of the application process for many universities, and which is also a part of the application for the Scholarship Program.
