About Scholarship
The Bakala Foundation Scholarship Program enables recipients to achieve their educational dreams by helping to fund bachelor’s or master’s degrees at foreign universities.
In the 15 years of the program’s existence, we have supported 216 students with their studies at 63 universities in 12 countries. Join them!

Who can apply?
Applicants must be:
- Under 34 years of age (as of the date of application);
- In their final year of study at high school or enrolled at university;
- Citizens od permanent residents of the Czech Republic;
- Holders of an excellent academic record;
- Unable to fully cover tuition fees at a university abroad due to their financial situation;
- Eager to study or already studying towards bachelor´s or master´s degree at a foreign university;
- Seeking stimulating academic experience that will enhance their intellectual enrichment and advancement, not just a cultural exchange or improvement of their language skills;
- Motivated to effect positive change through their studies and future career.

End of March | We will let you know how you did in Round 1 of the selection process. | |
Mid May | We will inform you of the results of Round 2 of the selection process. | |
June 10 and 11, 2025 | We will invite selected candidates to a face-to-face interview with an expert jury at the Bakala Foundation’s headquarters in Prague. Afterwards, we will announce the scholarship winners. | |
June 12, 2025 | We will announce results. |

Our scholars' stories
During my undergraduate studies in the Czech Republic, I became interested in military topics, especially ongoing armed conflicts, and dreamed of a career in the defense sector. Although I studied political science, I tried to choose subjects that would be at least somewhat close to that, and I wrote my bachelor’s thesis on the dynamics of Czech military modernization.

From an early age, I have been fascinated by space exploration, computer science, and
electronics. By the end of elementary school, I began participating in correspondence
seminars from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University, focusing on
mathematics, physics, and computer science. My involvement in the IT community GUG.cz
significantly advanced my skills, where I helped to organise developer conferences DevFest.cz and local lectures on various topics.
