The Kaplicky Internship is a program providing future and recent architecture graduates from Czech universities an opportunity to spend three months on a paid internship in a prestigious London studio. They have the chance to work on projects under the auspices of renowned architects and gain valuable work experience.
The winner of the 2019 competition will spend an internship at Heatherwick Studio in London.
“Me and my studio team are thrilled to be welcoming the recipient of this year’s Kaplicky Internship to our London space. As a Czech designer who spent most of his working life in the United Kingdom, Jan not only forged a creative bridge between the two countries, but also developed his own unique style which stood out from the sterile designs that were popping up all over Britain at the end of the last century. We are very happy to be part of this internship programme, now in its fifth year, strengthening the bond between designers from these two countries. We hope the time spent in our studio will be a journey of shared discovery and exploration.”
How to participate
The participant will be chosen through an architectural competition on a theme of their choosing during the last years of their university studies or during the first year after graduation. The winner of the 2019 competition will be awarded an internship at Heatherwick Studio in London and provided with airfare and pocket money for the stay. The past years winners spent their internships at studios: Eva Jiricna Architects (2015), Zaha Hadid Architects (2016), Allies and Morrison (2017), and Adjaye Associates (2018).
The dates of the internship are arranged individually depending on the schedules of the applicant and the studio.
