Fifth Kaplicky Intern Heads to London’s Heatherwick Studio

The Kaplicky Internship competition climaxed in the Holesovice DOX center with the announcement of the winner. A lecture by Heatherwick Studio architect Mat Cash on “Designing the Human-Centric City” preceded the announcement. He highlighted some of the latest projects of the studio aimed at creating a sophisticated design, allowing people to perceive their surroundings from a new perspective. A jury of Czech and international experts selected the winner from a group of six finalists in from the ranks of Czech students and fresh graduates of various architectural disciplines. This year’s winner, Ondrej Pokoj from the Faculty of Architecture CTU in Prague, won for his work on the design of Transferium –  a transfer hub for Prague Airport. This  year’s prize is a three-month internship at the Heatherwick Studio in London. The Kaplicky Internship competition is organized by The Bakala Foundation, together with London's The Design Museum, and the Kaplicky Centre Foundation. Support for the education of the next generation of young talent forms one of the pillars of Michaela and Zdenek Bakala’s philanthropic activities.
