My name is Nina Jaganjacová, and I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Because of the civil war in former Yugoslavia, I was evacuated to Prague, where I grew up. I have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Economics in Prague. In addition to economics, I have always been interested in humanitarian aid and development. Indeed, this is why I decided to cooperate with SOS Children’s Villages from the Balkans. During my first international internship at UNICEF in Almaty, (Kazakhstan) I focused on HIV/AIDS issue in Central Asia. I gained additional valuable experience as an intern at the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the United Nations in New York where I was responsible for the agenda of the Second Committee, ECOSOC, and the European Union meetings. Thanks to Bakala Foundation I have had a pleasure to study my dream course named MSc in Population and Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I focused on the international development, social policy and public health issues. After LSE I became a Blue Book Trainee at the European Commission in Luxembourg where I was supporting the Health Determinants Unit team in DG SANCO. Currently, I work in the Department of International Affairs and the EU of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. I like to spend my free time dancing and I am a member of the hip-hop group Out of Bounds, which enabled me to participate in many international competitions and become Czech Champion multiple times.
