After completing my secondary education at Gymnázium Jiřího Gutha-Jarkovského in Prague, I moved to London to pursue an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree of BASc Arts and Sciences at University College London. I spent my third year abroad at the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain. My undergraduate studies allowed me to explore my interests through majoring in Societies and minoring in Health and Environment and made me realise that I wish to continue my studies on a postgraduate level, focusing on the relationship between nature and society. Thanks to the generous support of the Bakala Foundation, I am now able to start a two-year master’s programme MPhil in Nature, Society and Environmental Governance (NSEG) at the University of Oxford. The underlying belief of the programme is that natural sciences are necessary but not sufficient to tackle the threats of climate and environmental changes. Thus, the MPhil in NSEG seeks to acknowledge and encourage the role of social and political scientists in acting as an essential part of the conversation about the environment. I would like to pursue a PhD degree after my studies and I see my career future in a public or non-governmental sector.
