Graphic Communication Design
University of the Arts London
UK
After completing a BFA Degree in Illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, I am now continuing my studies thanks to the help of the Bakala Foundation at a 2-year MA Programme in Graphic Communication Design at the University of the Arts London: Central Saint Martins. I have always loved illustration, I was fortunate to illustrate two Czech children’s books, but I have also more recently became very interested in hand-lettering, typography, book design and printmaking which led me to choosing this programme at CSM. I am excited to learn the more graphic elements of visual communication and be able to apply and relate those to my illustrative work. The definitions of both graphic design and illustration can be very open in today’s world of advanced technologies, but they are both a crucial form of universal visual language that can have immense power in spreading information. I want to be a freelance illustrator and graphic designer working in the editorial, book and advertisement fields and I believe that studying at UAL will help me connect these two fields and apply them through a socially aware perspective that can help solve global issues as well as make an impact on an individual level.
