I have been playing bassoon for about 14 years now and music has become my whole life. After graduating Brno Conservatoire I joined the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. I was lucky enough to have studied with wonderful and supporting teachers in my homeland and thanks to them I got offered a place to study bassoon at the Royal College of Music in London. I am soon to be graduating there and I consider this university to be a stunning place to learn music. My wonderful teachers Sarah Burnett, Julie Price, Andrea de Flammineis, Emily Hultmark and Roberto Giaccaglia have been the most supportive and I have learned so much from them. The RCM is one of the top conservatoires in the world, with famous teachers and conductors coming every year to share their experience from professional orchestras. London is without a doubt one of the most important cultural cities in Europe and I can gain valuable experience outside of college as well. After successful auditions I am now an Extra list player at BBC Symphony a Royal Philharmonic Orchestras and for this concert season I am also a member of youth musicians scheme at English National Opera (ENO Evolve). My dream would never have become true if I wasn’t both RCM and Bakala Foundation scholar. Their support means a lot to me and thanks to them I can fully focus on music. Music is all I ever wanted to do and hopefully I will become a professional musician one day.
