After obtaining my International Baccalaureate Diploma at Open Gate School I started the four year MSci programme Physics at Imperial College London.
During my last few years in high school I was already quite sure how I wanted to focus my future studies; despite that, I have always tried to keep a wide range of interests. I participated in various debate competitions both in Czechia and abroad and took part in the Prague Student Summit; I also participated in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, contributed to a trilingual school magazine, and was a member of the student council for many years. I had the opportunity to tutor younger students Physics and Mathematics and to participate in the British competitions Maths Challenge, and in May 2015 I had the chance to visit the Dukovany nuclear power plant on a short student internship, which challenged some of my views about atomic energy.
I chose to study at Imperial College not only because the university is ranked as one of the best in the UK, but I also found the structure of the programme interesting and favourable, since it is very flexible, and the university allows us to focus on those areas of Physics we find interesting. I personally do not wish to do theoretical Physics, but I would rather deal with applied Physics and research. In the future I would like to focus on environmental Physics and the problem of lack of green and sustainable sources of electrical power, but I would also like to contribute to popularization of science.
Apart from Physics I like spend my free time reading, cooking or doing sports, especially swimming, shooting or hiking, and my hobbies also include volunteering and working with children.
