I have just completed my BSc in Biochemistry at Imperial College London and am about to start the MRes in Genomic Medicine course at Cambridge University. During my studies, I was most interested in genomics, bioinformatics, and personalised medicine. I was awarded a prestigious student grant from The Lister Institute of Preventive Medicine, which allowed me to investigate the effect of DNA quadruplexes on the process of ageing in Marco Di Antonio's group at Imperial College London. I co-authored a publication in the Royal Society of Chemistry and presented the results of my work at a conference at Oxford University. I also spent a year as a research assistant at the Environmental Research Group where I worked on the impact of microplastics on human health.
I have enjoyed biology, chemistry and medical science since I was in high school. Outside of school, I participated in CTM courses - such as AP Biology, which I was teaching as an instructor during my undergraduate studies. I have also done internships in the Czech Republic and abroad, whether at the Institute of Physiology, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, or Charité Berlin. I was awarded the Little Czech Heads Award for young scientists for a project in collaboration with the Biomolecular Spectroscopy Group at the Institute of Chemistry in 2021. This year I contributed to a scientific publication.
In my spare time I enjoy cycling, running, learning languages, playing the piano, teaching students, and I have long been involved in organising lectures and workshops as President of the Imperial College Computational Biology Society and before that as a member of Science Café Czech Republic.
