Khoi Nguyen

I started studying medicine at the University of Heidelberg in 2022. I am currently preparing for State Examinations, with the goal of one day specializing in Psychosomatic Medicine. During the Covid waves of 2020, I worked for the Red Cross as a caretaker in Klinika Svata Alzbeta in the Geriatrics department. Prior to my medical studies, I represented the Czech Republic in the German International Youth Debate Championship, winning first place for my country. Following that, I taught rhetoric at a Berlin-based NGO and then worked in Sales at Google in Dublin. My dream would be to one day use my medical knowledge and communication skills to help fight mental health diseases. My parents immigrated from Vietnam to the Czech Republic during the 1990s, and as it often happens to children from migrant families, I saw loneliness, stigma, and addiction in my own family as well as my friends'. I wish to one day do my part in our generational battle against mental ailments and provide good healthcare to the ones who need it most.
