Russian and East European Studies
University of Oxford
UK
Although I am originally from Karviná, I have attended Open Gate Boarding School in Babice near Prague, from which I graduated in 2010. Afterwards thanks to a scholarship I continued my education at the University of Dundee, where I studied International Relations and Politics, but also took interest in history and Spanish. Furthermore, while in Scotland I participated in a human rights research, in which I coded data from qualitative to quantitative form. I also volunteered at the Czech branch of the League of Human Rights, for which I translated documents, annual reports, and grant proposals. When I took part in the International Politics Summer School at Oxford University in 2013, I was certain that this is the place where I’d like to study for a graduate degree. This dream was fulfilled a year later, when I enrolled to a two year course in Russian and East European Studies at St Antony’s College. The first year was very demanding, yet extremely rewarding in return. During this summer I have started conducting my research, which focuses on the Czech president and his position in foreign policy after the introduction of direct election.
