Eliška Selinger is a medical doctor working in preventive medicine and public health. As part of her medical studies at 3rd Faculty of Medicine (Charles University), she completed several months of research internships at the University of Magna Greacia in Catanzaro, the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ) in Heidelberg and the Arctic University of Norway in Tromso, as well as short-term traineeship at the European Molecular Biological Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg and the German Diabetes Centre (DDZ) in Dusseldorf. She won the Minister of Education, Youth and Physical Education Award and a faculty grant for talented medical graduates Donatio Facultatis Medicinae Tertiae.
She works as a nutritional epidemiologist. As part of her doctoral studies, she is studying the health outcomes of alternative diets. She is also one of the initiators of the establishment of the European Network of Researchers with an interest in the topic of plant-based diets (VESNA). As a university lecturer, she teach the methodology of medical research and courses on vegetarian and vegan diet. In her work, she is interested in public health nutrition, including nutritional education, school food system and the nutritional environment in schools in general. Since her victory in the Czech final of the Famelab - Talking Science competition, she has occasionally served as a science communicator.
