Christmas Treat 2025 once again offered a wide range of topics reflecting current challenges and trends. The program was divided into parallel blocks so that each visitor could choose according to their interests.
The program consisted of practical workshops in which people from the Bakala Foundation shared information about scholarship programs, and inspirational lectures led by scholarship recipients and alumni, who gave students an insight into life and study abroad, as well as current cross-cutting themes:
Change that was worth it: Elen Drahoňovská (a student of political science and international relations at FSV UK, an alumna of the ASSIST program) spoke openly about key moments associated with studying in the US and how a year abroad advanced her academically and personally.
Life and study in Oxford – what you won't find in textbooks: Kuba Niederle (Scholarship program recipient currently studying biology at Oxford) explained how to adapt to the academic pace and set the record straight on the myths surrounding Oxbridge.
The future of urbanism: In her lecture "Cities 3.0," architect Dominika Demlová encouraged reflection on what cities will look like in 50 years and connected architecture with elements of science fiction and computer games.
Media literacy: Journalist Alena Harciníková guided students through "Journalism in the Age of Scrolling", where she revealed the behind-the-scenes world of media and provided tools for verifying information and not getting caught up in drama for views.
Education and AI: Neuroscientist Šimon Podhajský opened up the pressing topic of the impact of artificial intelligence on the process.
