From Top Newsrooms to Grébovka: World-Class Journalists Return to Prague for the 10th Journey

June 26, 2025
The tenth edition of Journey: Journalism Bootcamp will bring acclaimed voices from global newsrooms to Prague this summer. Among this year’s speakers is Scottish reporter Jen Stout, whose in-depth reporting from Eastern Ukraine has earned her nominations for Amnesty International and the Foreign Press Association awards. As in previous years, the program will welcome renowned media professionals such as Adam Entous of The New York Times and Evan Perez from CNN.
The ten-day course will host 20 aspiring journalists from 15 countries from 27 July to 4 August 2025 at Villa Grébovka in Prague’s Vinohrady district. The program features hands-on workshops, discussions, and field reporting simulations.
A 2017 participant of Journey, Jen Stout has built her career on reporting from conflict zones, including the frontlines, train stations, and humanitarian aid convoys in Ukraine. Known for her deeply empathetic storytelling, she will offer participants insights into the ethical and practical challenges of conflict reporting – from ad hoc interviews to handling sensitive testimonies. As part of the public program, she will also present a live reading from her book Night Train to Odesa: Covering the Human Cost of Russia’s War at Globe Bookstore in Prague on 29 July at 7:00 p.m.

Anastasiia Morozova will join Journey this year as well. She is a data-driven investigative journalist working with VSquare and Frontstory.pl, and a nominee for the Grand Press Award. Her work focuses on disinformation campaigns and influence operations in Central and Eastern Europe, with a strong emphasis on network analysis and open-source intelligence. The photojournalism track will be led by Petr Josek, a celebrated Czech photographer and Czech Press Photo laureate.
Fieldwork and Live Reporting Beyond lectures and panel sessions, participants will engage in practical training. Under the guidance of senior editors from Reuters, they will learn how to prepare live reports and conduct interviews in real-time. Experienced mentors Michael Kahn and Paul Casciato will provide hands-on feedback and share their editorial insights.
Journey is designed for students with a strong interest in serious, ethical, and globally relevant journalism. This year’s cohort includes participants from 15 countries, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Poland, the UK, and the US. The Bakala Foundation provides full scholarships for all participants, covering accommodation, meals, and travel.
