Design Museum in London is re-opened!

November 14, 2016
The new and improved palace of design opened its new premises in the renovated and repurposed Grade II-listed Commonwealth Institute on High Street Kensington, London on November 24th. There were two events to celebrate the opening - Chairman's Dinner on November 21st and a Gala Opening on November 22nd. Zdenek Bakala as a Trustee of the Design Museum attended both events with his wife, Michaela. In the picture above they discuss the opening with Lord Mandelson, former European Commissioner for Trade and president of international think tank Policy Network. Peter Mandelson will be appointed new Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Design Museum in March 2017. Watch Zdenek Bakala explain, what does design mean to him and why he and his wife support the Design Museum.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Bakalas, the new building of the Design Museum will include a multipurpose space for lectures and various cultural and social events. Named the Bakala Auditorium, it will be a 200-seat theatre-style space with state-of-the-art AV facilities.
